The South Florida Water Tannin Removal and Softening System is a self-backwashing system that automatically removes the tannins (yellow tea-like stains) within the filter bed and washes them down the drain. This is accomplished with the electronic control valve that is mounted on top of the filter tank. This valve is controlled by a meter, that measures the amount of water being used. Once the meter reaches the recommended measured gallons, It will move into the backwash cycle that cleans the bed of filtration media and resets it for the next period of filtration. Tannins (humic-acid) are found in waters which have passed through large quantities of decaying vegetation. Tannins can cause yellow water and yellow staining on fabrics and fixtures. Tannins measuring 0.5 PPM or higher may cause staining and/or interference with various water treatment processes.
